Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to competitions operated by HBCCompetitions Limited, company registration number 17372975, of Leylands, Dolwen, Llanidloes, United Kingdom, SY18 6LQ (“HBC Competitions”, “we”, “us” or “the Promoter”).

By entering one of our competitions, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions together with any specific terms and information displayed on the relevant competition page.

1. Eligibility

Competitions are open to UK residents aged 18 years or over.

Entrants may be required to provide proof of age, identity and UK residency before a prize is awarded.

It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that they are eligible to enter.

Employees of HBC Competitions and their immediate family members are not permitted to enter HBC Competitions.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an entry where we reasonably believe an entrant does not meet the eligibility requirements.

2. Entering a Competition

Each competition will display the relevant prize, entry price, maximum number of available entries and closing information.

To enter online, choose the competition you wish to enter, select the number of entries required and complete the checkout process.

An online entry is not confirmed until the order has been successfully processed.

Entrants are responsible for ensuring that the information supplied when entering is complete and accurate.

Entries cannot be transferred between individuals.

3. Free Postal Entry

A free postal entry route is available for our competitions.

Full instructions are available on our Free Entries page and form part of these Terms & Conditions.

Free entries must be submitted in accordance with the instructions provided and must be received before the relevant competition closes.

Entries must be sent individually by First Class or Second Class post.

Hand-delivered entries, courier deliveries and entries requiring a signature will not be accepted.

Valid free postal entries are treated in the same way as paid online entries for the purposes of the competition and are eligible to win any prize associated with that competition, including any Instant Win prizes.

Where a competition includes Instant Win prizes, a valid free postal entry will be eligible to participate in the Instant Win element on the same basis as a valid paid online entry.

The free postal entry route is available to eligible UK residents aged 18 or over.

4. Competition Entries

Each competition has a maximum number of entries available.

Where an individual entry limit applies, this will be displayed on the relevant competition page.

Entries are subject to availability and cannot be accepted after a competition has closed.

HBC Competitions reserves the right to reject entries that are incomplete, fraudulent, submitted contrary to these Terms or otherwise invalid.

5. Closing Dates

The closing date and time for each competition will be displayed on the relevant competition page.

Entries received after a competition has closed will not be included.

The winner draw will take place on the same day that the competition closes. The relevant competition page will state whether the winner will be selected through a live draw or an automated random draw.

Any arrangements relating to a competition selling out before its advertised closing date will be communicated on the relevant competition page.

6. Selecting the Winner

Winners are selected at random from all valid entries included in the relevant competition.

The draw will take place on the same day that the competition closes, using the method stated on the relevant competition page. Depending on the competition, this will be either a live draw or an automated random draw.

All valid paid and free postal entries included in the competition will be treated equally when the winner is selected.

Where a competition includes Instant Win prizes, all valid paid and free postal entries will be eligible to participate in the Instant Win element, subject to the specific Instant Win terms displayed on the relevant competition page.

HBC Competitions will take reasonable steps to ensure that draws are conducted fairly and that the result can be verified.

7. Winners

The winner will be contacted using the contact information associated with their HBC Competitions account or entry.

Entrants are responsible for ensuring their contact details are accurate and up to date.

We may require a winner to provide reasonable proof of their identity, age, residency and eligibility before releasing a prize.

HBC Competitions will publish information about competition winners to demonstrate that prizes have been awarded. This will normally consist of the winner’s first name, surname initial and town or county of residence, for example, “John M. from Surrey”.

If a winner does not wish their personal details to be published, they may request an opt-out by emailing [email protected]. The request should be made as soon as possible after being notified that they have won. HBC Competitions will accommodate such requests where appropriate and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.

A request not to publish personal details does not remove the winner’s obligation to provide any information reasonably required by HBC Competitions to verify their identity, eligibility and receipt of the prize, or to meet applicable legal or regulatory requirements. Such information may be retained and processed privately where necessary and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

If the winner does not respond within 14 days, HBC Competitions may make reasonable further attempts to contact them. If the winner remains uncontactable or fails to provide the required information, HBC Competitions reserves the right to conduct a further draw from the remaining valid entries.

8. Prizes

The prize available for each competition will be clearly described on the relevant competition page.

Where a competition includes Instant Win prizes, the relevant competition page will clearly identify the Instant Win prizes and explain how the Instant Win element operates.

Prize photographs and descriptions are provided to represent the prize as accurately as reasonably possible.

Any specific collection, delivery or fulfilment arrangements relating to a prize will be communicated to the winner and, where appropriate, stated on the relevant competition page.

Digital prizes and holiday-related prizes will generally be fulfilled electronically by email, where applicable. The email may contain the prize, voucher, booking details or instructions required to redeem or use the prize.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, entrants should not assume that a cash alternative will be available.

9. Collection & Delivery

HBC Competitions will arrange collection, delivery or other fulfilment of prizes as appropriate to the prize concerned.

For physical prizes requiring delivery, HBC Competitions will arrange for delivery within 28 days of the winner confirming the details reasonably required to arrange delivery.

For holidays and digital prizes, the relevant prize details, vouchers, booking information or redemption instructions will generally be sent to the winner by email. The timing and process may depend on the specific prize and any arrangements stated on the relevant competition page.

The winner may be required to provide identification and other information reasonably necessary before a prize is released or fulfilled.

Any specific collection, delivery or fulfilment arrangements will be communicated to the winner where necessary.

10. Unsold Entries and Competition Changes

HBC Competitions will conduct each competition on the advertised closing date and will not extend, roll over or cancel a competition solely because the maximum number of entries has not been sold.

The advertised prize will remain available and will be awarded in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.

If circumstances outside HBC Competitions’ reasonable control materially affect a competition, we will communicate any necessary changes to affected entrants and take reasonable steps to ensure that entrants are treated fairly.

11. Refunds and Cancellations

Competition entries are generally final once they have been successfully submitted and processed.

This does not affect any statutory rights you may have.

If you believe an entry has been processed incorrectly or there has been a problem with your order, please contact HBC Competitions as soon as possible.

Where HBC Competitions cancels a competition and a refund is appropriate, affected paid entrants will be contacted regarding the refund process.

12. Fair Use and Fraud

HBC Competitions reserves the right to investigate entries where there are reasonable grounds to suspect fraud, manipulation, abuse of the website or a breach of these Terms & Conditions.

We may refuse or invalidate entries where we reasonably determine that they have been obtained or submitted improperly.

We may also suspend or close an account where there is reasonable evidence of fraudulent or abusive activity.

13. Website Availability

We make reasonable efforts to keep the HBC Competitions website available and operating correctly.

However, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access and will not be responsible for temporary interruptions caused by maintenance, technical failures or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Where a technical issue materially affects a competition, we will take reasonable steps to ensure entrants are treated fairly.

14. Responsible Participation

Competitions should be treated as entertainment.

Please only spend what you can comfortably afford and never use money required for essential household expenses to enter competitions.

Further information is available on our Play Responsibly page.

If you would like assistance restricting or closing your HBC Competitions account, please contact us.

15. Complaints

If you have a complaint regarding HBC Competitions, an entry, competition or prize, please contact us using the procedure set out on our Complaints page.

We will investigate complaints fairly and may request additional information where necessary.

16. Privacy

Personal information submitted to HBC Competitions will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Information may also be processed where necessary to administer competitions, process entries, contact winners, deliver prizes, prevent fraud and comply with our legal obligations.

17. Changes to These Terms

HBC Competitions may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The version applicable to an entry will be the version in effect when the entry was made, except where a change is required by law or is necessary to correct an obvious error.

Any material changes affecting an active competition will be communicated where reasonably necessary.

18. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights available to entrants under applicable UK law.
